The first rooms were realized at the end of the 1960's and were restored existent old homes in the center of town.

Vital to the restoration was the supervision of Aldo Trionfo, who was collaborating at the time with artist Luchino Visconti, and in his own right an internationally famous theatre director. (The fingerprint of Aldo Trionfo can also be found today in the main dining room of the restaurant). In 1997 other rooms were restored in an adjacent building on the rocks, high above the sea.

Almost all of these rooms enjoy a splendid view of the golf of the Cinque Terre.

Hotel Gianni Franzi offers different types of room for different living solutions: single rooms and double rooms with a balcony overlooking the sea; double rooms with balcony and terrace overlooking the sea; triple room and "Superior" rooms.

The guesthouses, which can be reached in a few minutes (about 100 steps through the typical carugi), are close to the historic Castello Doria and are connected by a garden overlooking the sea with a panoramic view, accessible to all hotel guests.
